Brigham Young University. Evening School

The Evening School was established within the Extension Division in 1952. It continued to be an integral part of that unit following its name change to the Adult Education and Extension Services in 1957, and its subsequent reorganization as the Division of Continuing Education in 1964. Supervisors of the unit included Louise B. Meyers (1954-1955), Shirley Evans (1955-1956), Mercedes Dickey (acting, 1956-1957), and Ilene Webb (1957-1966).

Functions

The school cooperated with the wider university to offer credit-bearing university courses for both full-time and part-time students in the evenings.

The Evening School was administered by a supervisor who reported to the director of the Extension Division (1957-1964), and later to the dean of Adult Education and Extension Services.
